Pap Smear Appointment

Today, I had my Dr appointment for my Pap Smear. Lucky I took the day off to do it. I waited about 2 hours to be seen for the dr to see me for 2 minutes. She was sweet though. Results will be ready in 2 weeks.
She was sweet though. The birthcontrol pills I was on (in order to regulate my cycle) were making me sick. So they dropped me down to a lower estrogin birthcontrol. Also, per Amy from the agency they want me to start taking prenatal vitamins..so I have to go pick some of those up. So far thats it... so I'll keep in touch.
Talk to you later.

Ash

Pap Smear

So, I dont remember if I posted about this or not. But on Tuesday June 14th, 2011 I had taken the day off to get my pap done. Although for the past month or so my period has been irregular. I had kept the appointment in hopes it would stop by then. Although when the time came it was unfortunate...I was still on it. So I decided to go anyways and just get birthcontrol to regulate it out so that I could then make the appointment for the pap smear and be sure that I would be able to go.
Now I have to wait 2 week period the third week "saturday" Eric has a photo shoot and by the 4th week I'll be back on the brown pills. So I will have to figure out how to go around that. It will most likely result in me having to take yet another day off of work...not like I wouldn't like it. I just can't afford to be taking off a lot of work with our new rules at work.
FYI: Loestrin, I think thats what it's called is actually a really good birthcontrol. At least it works well for me. I took it on the 14th the same day my period stopped. I was in love. especially since no one wants to be on that thing let alone for a whole month off and on... it was not fun. In fact it was very draining.
Well I just wanted to make sure you guys knew of the other obstacle I had to get through for this process... it seems small but a tons of small occurances that come up in the middle of a road you are trying to plow through it more time consuming then anyone hopes.

Initial Interview

Today was a crazy morning for me.
I had training this morning from 8-10am. So I got up at the regular (week day) time. When that was finished I went to get gas. Ran to the gocery store to get somethings to make some lemmon bars, blue berry muffins, and orange juice for the meeting. Ran home, picked up a bit. bathed the kids. By this time it was already 11:30 and Amy (from the agency) already arrived. I didn't get to finish the lemon bars and the blue berry muffins just finished as soon as she was leaving. : )
Everything ran as smoothly as it could with 3 children. lol.
Amy, one of the representatives of west coast surrogacy was a very sweet individual, and after we both got to know one another I felt more comfotable then before. She went over the process of surogacy with both me and Eric. We were both able to ask questions and put forth request as far as the intended parents...etc. She showed us the needles for the hormones...etc 1 isn't bad at all but the other looks HUGE!!!! : ) it was a little scarry to think about. But it's all for a good cause. I'm extremely excited and happy and can't wait to pair up with a couple/single and get started.
She advised me as well that she still hasn't received all of the medical records.
She did receive Facey(2nd child preg), and Northridge. (2nd and 3rd deliveries) whch means we are still waiting for Dr Nitta and Kaiser.  So I will have to do a follow up again next Monday.
I'll check up again around that time. Toorrow is Father's day... so happy father's day to all you dad's and moms who act as a dad out there.
We'll talk soon!!!
Your Surrogate.

Running into Issues

Its bene about 2 weeks so to say and I''m begning to run into issues. I had made my OB appointment for a pap on Tuesday the 14th. I also took off work for that day so that I could attempt to meet with a representative from the agency. I also have requested all my medical records on June 1st.
Now, my issues that I'm running into for each thing;
1.I had requested medical records be sent and I've confirmed the receipt of the request on June 1st, and advised that the turn around time is 5-7 days. Today is the 12th. And the agency hasnt received one. They have asked that they wait until they receive them before they meet with me and my spouse. So those are two things that have not gone as planned.
The last would be that My period has been on a schedule for the past 6months A co worker of mine returned back from leave of absence(pregnancy) about a month ago.. She is on the depot and constantly bleeding. From experience I know she is to bleed for the first 3 shots 9 months. About 1 week after she came I had my period for the 2nd time this month  stopped fo a few days and started again... I stopped last week, so I made the appt. and started again this weekend. I am hoping that my period stopps for Tuesday at least so that I can get through the appointment.I doubt it'll let up but this is just another thing that will have to wiat.
I really just want to get started so it's sort of a disapointment everytime I run into nother problem.

Making a Pap smear appt for surrogacy

Okay, so another requirment to be a Gestational Surrogate, is that you have a normal pap smear in the last year. I have not gone to the dr in the past year. I am not one to be seen by a dr unless a serious condition.
 : )
So I went through all the neccessary requirements in order to be seen. Such as;
Calling my insurance company.
Checking my medical benefits
Finding out who I can see
Looking on the website,
Calling to find one I feel comfortable with
and making an apt.
And then requesting the day off from work.

The appointment I have scheduled for Tuesday June 14, 2011, @ 11:00am
So wish me luck!!!

Medical Records

Okay so for surrogacy I had to request all my prenatal, delivery and postnatal medical records and have them all fowarded to the surrogacy agency. I had printed all release forms, and faxed it to all my dr's and hospitals which consists of 4 locations. I was told that it should not take longer then 5-7 business days from the date of receipt. I faxed all my forms on June 1st, called on the 2nd and 3rd and confirmed they had all received the requests. I was told that it would be completed and fowarded back to the agency on Monday/Tuesday of the following week. Today is Tuesday I followed back up with all the Offices. Some stated that because the pregnancy was over 3-4 years ago they have to request them. Some have them being copied/scanned/and then shipped to an off site address in order to then be shipped to the agency... some say they still haven't gotten to it. and the last stated they they have the request pending but it's still being worked on, but they know it takes 5-7 days...so I am going to wait until Thursday this week to find out if they have finally been shipped again.
Requesting medical records to be sent to the surrogacy isn't going as fast or as smoothly as I thought it would. I thought it was going to be as simple as faxing it and them grabbing the paper work then just sending it over...but I guess not.

My First Post..

This is My Story:
So, I created this blog because I am starting the process of su
rrogacy. I am hoping this will act sort of a online journal for other surrogates or just people to learn from. Since I haven't had great success in finding many other surrogates full story from begining to end. Or good/bad or learning time frames...etc. The main reason I started to create this is to give insite to the intended parents from start to finish.
I am a mother of 3. I have a 4 year old Malikai, 3 year old daughter Makiah, and 1 year old M'kiela. I am 23 years old and think I'm done with my own children, at least for now...
After three years of research and a desire to be a surrogate, just last weekend I decided that it is something I am going to do.

I already had a packet shipped to me a year ago. So I filled out the online application, they called me did a phone interview, Mailed my paper application back. Requested medical records be sent to them, and thats where I am at today. This next week I will be following up with the hospitals, and dr's to see if they have fowarded all medical records needed by the agency. The agency I am working with is West Coast Surrogacy. So far the women there have been wonderful to work with. And extremely pleasant to speak with. Especially since this is so personable. It's very comforting as well to know that they are speaking from experience.
I'm truley excited about this experience and I'm glad to be able to share this wth  you!!
